This last one is driving me crazy:

Poet Laureate with this helping could make strong material' I have wi?ing.

Any thoughts?

WEBBING is strong material. I know it may not fit but...

Thanks Aceface - you're nearly there. I had just realised that I put the W in 30 d in the wrong place, so instead of "wi?ing" I had "ai?ing" So you see how you helped.

It is rather tough - I've spent longer on it than usual. Post for help if you need it.

AJT, are you saying that the answer to your clue is AI - ING?

Yes, Sammy - it was 30 d that threw me. The inserted "W" seemed to fit in either of two places. "Aiding" referred to "helping" in the clue

I don't have the crossword so no idea whether the original question was about 30d or 32 ac. All very confusing.

Help with the very last clue please??????
