Thanks to Flowerman for an interesting and amusing challenge. Several smiles as apparently obscure clues yielded up answers. Once the grid was filled and the message was revealed I understood what needed to be shown but couldn’t visualise it on the page until light dawned - read the title as well as the preamble, Jack!

Got the 8 cells and the triangle I think, but no idea of how to draw the 13 lines, even though I know the shape they should roughly depict.

I enjoyed this week's puzzle. Thought it was going to be a big challenge since several clues had me baffled at first. But it all unfolded and resolved without too much head scratching for me.

Gitto - if you have the 8 cells, their direction may give you an idea about the trick to drawing the lines. I thought there would be more ambiguities to the lines, but was pleasantly surprised at how nicely it worked.

Nice puzzle, end game held me up for a few minutes til I figured out the significance of the fourth feature.

Two loose ends for me - can't see the word play for the first 3 letters of 3d and I can only get 35d to work if Harold is in fact Henry?

3d - the first three letters (worker) have lost their initial letter, given by the corrected misprint in the clue
35d - Hal is an abbreviation of Harold

I have the answer for 16ac but can't figure out the clue. I can "unseason" a soup but can't make sense of the definition - Preferred starter?
