Your solver is correct; one of the options is an unusual synonym for the definition. Wordplay otherwise conventional.

I have a full grid and I think I've found the 'fourth feature' and the set of letters in a triangle. But the 'feature' doesn't go in the direction I expected it to, which makes me wonder about the outline. Am I overthinking it?

Think you’re thinking about it correctly. Follow that thought to its logical conclusion

I have the answers to 13ac, Note Capuchins……..and 34ac, Time shunning…. But I can’t see the wordplay at all. I’m also baffled. By 5dn, New nurse……as my two potential answers don’t make any sense with wordplay or definition. Advice, please

Dylan
13ac - definition at end; word play gives 2 letters; then five letters with one other letter inside.
34ac - definition at the end, 'woke' as in stopped sleeping...
5dn - complex anagram, definition at the end

Dunnit (I think), thanks to him indoors spotting the 'fourth natural feature' which was not where I expected it to be. Very clever and enjoyable puzzle. Thanks Flowerman.

Thanks Candledave, I had ruled that possibility out because I had misremembered the instructions and thought we were going clockwise. So infuriating!

When I read the preamble I thought 'this is another GWIT puzzle', but I think there was just enough info to work out what was going on. Some really tough clues though, lots of looking up words I thought I knew the meaning of in the BRB.
