Hope you stay Mattrom - people will always have their own opinion on the merit of particular clues but ... do they need to tell everyone?

Now I realise why I like your clues, Jono. Thanks to all for the kind words, but it is time I took a break.

Congrats, jono. Thanks for hosting, mattrom, and I hope your hiatus is brief. I have such admiration for your clues, especially the surfaces. You must work very hard on them. I've called you the queen of the surface before, and I meant that with 100% sincerity. As for your selection of the winner, it would have been my choice too. Well done, jono.

Mattrom, I look forward to your return. ''Ferrets making a comeback as pets'' is forever etched into my mind.

I disagree. If I had written a clue as good as peterm's, I would have been miffed if it hadn't been appreciated!
