I came across a couple of things that amused me this morning.
First a Land Rover with a sign on the side:
Kidney and Gall Stone Wallers.

Then I played golf with a very nice chap who I hadn't met before. He was called Phil Crooks, and used to be a probation officer...

(Thanks, Norah!)

From the pen of Rob Jacques (Knut). Rather amusing if you’ve been following the machinations of London mayoral voting over the last couple of days…

Susan Hall's opponent: "Bounce, in fact, failed" (5,7)

I remember H'Angus, tyke. Wasn't there a story about the people of Hartlepool hanging a monkey because they thought it was a Frenchman in disguise, spying?

It is a true tale - a French Ship sank off the Hartlepool coast, a monkey survived only to be tried and hung as a French Spy. The local Football Club are known as `The Monkey Hangers`!

Crossword Twitter/X has been having fun with anagrams today. These two are quite good…

Conservative manifesto = A fiasco over investment
Tory manifesto = I’m often a story

Jono,
While looking up phrases with “Labour” in, this unexpectedly popped up:
“ Gato con guantes non caza ratones”.
Check the translation- brilliant, and quite out of the blue.
No idea how it happened - AI Bot maybe.
Anyway, excellent anagram and no subbies!
