I have done OK recently, but I have found this completely impenetrable.

Nothing.
Nada.
Zilch.

What am I missing?!?!

Are there any anagrams to get started?

Hi Druh,
5d and 16d are anagrams…

Ty.

5d I now have.

I cannot see where 8 letters come from in 16d for an anagram. How do you come by the 8 letters?

The anagram indication is “in revised version”, the eight letters come from the preceding two words

Ty.

I’ve done every Guardian crossword for the past 12 months and I cannot say that I’m improving!

I’m conscious of asking too many questions, but thank you for your help.

Keep going, it will be worth it!
And questions are good, after all this is a “help forum”.

If you want help on specific clues though, do post the full clue, that way others who haven’t done the puzzle can help.

That will end up being a lot of posts…

Did I not read there is a maximum number of questions that can be asked?

That limit of 3 queries is really for prize puzzles and competition quizzes to stop people asking for multiple answers.

If you want to ask for hints for the mid-week Guardian cryptics I don’t think there will be any objections.

We already have weekend threads for the Saturday Guardian puzzle and the Everyman, which are hints only.

I think that Norah's suggested limit was 3 questions on a given post, not 3 cumulatively; there's no reason I can see why that cannot be more than 3!

Thanks Chris, yes, I agree with that.

Though, 3! is of course 6.
