Hi bobbibunny,
23d. Subjugate is an inclusion indicator, definition democracy
28d. You already have the "is" back, not the Gregorian calendar
32d. Definition is gel?
22a. Is a Surname, Google should help.

Ginge, bobbibunny

Thanks. For the calendar I had SIVON, not sure about this.

For 22a I have Reading - if a surname dont know what it means

Ginge, bobbibunny

I parsed SIVON, part of calendar - Nov, is (all backwards)

But see from Ginge's reply - it probably is Si on VAN (front)

Clever clue - I must have the crosser wrong - in which case I dont get the "lecturer" clue crossing.

any help with that please, ginge

22a redding ...then change the last 5 letters (still making real words)

that gives you a title , then you highlight the singer of it...

Thanks Scarlett, I was convinced it was SIvon, but your linear tells me it was SIVAN. I could not see linear at all, not realising cool could be in, is that in the "fashionable" sense?

ginge and scarlet

Thanks for your late night help. I have got it! On Google well into the early hours, I checked Redding, who I had not heard of, and I thought the change must be to a song , probably Red something. Eventually trying "Song Red din" I got Red Dinosaur song by T-Rex.

Thats it - Dinosaur requires the 5 cell changes, and even an old dinosaur like me has heard of the group T-Rex. The 14 letter "re-interpreter" puzzled me, but I got it. T-Rex is "re-interpreted" as Tyrannosaurus R. We are used to R for Rex and the setter could not get an X in the grid. I have found the letters in the grid.

Brilliant puzzle.
