I seem to recall that this theme was used a few years ago - and coincidentally the subject of a University Challenge question last week. I found the different omissions quite tricky in trying to work out the reasoning behind some obvious answers. I particularly enoyed working out 1 across - eventually.

I have penciled in a word for God beginning with C for 1a. W is extra but I do not know what ten baths in wordplay mean.

The wordplay has one extra letter. Some clues have one extra word.

I need help with :
10. Tiny creatures burrow route amid Matthew's weeds (11)
21. Dose identification label, male over 12 (8)
I have not solved 12.
12. English sparingly deal out Scottish rations for French C-in-C (5) ET???

26. Globe pearl: I put one on shop floor? (8)

You got further than I with 1ac. It hinges on a second definition of "bath", which provides the surrounding three letters.

10. word for weed surrounds a simple word for burrow plus a common word for route (.... eg to Morocco) less O

21 Dose is extra. 12 gives most of the answer following male "over".

Not many words start with ET so I studied Chambers - which Isn't clever but did work for 5 and 12.

26 The definition for pearl-mussel is very helpful.

Hi, wakeling. I've completed the crossword and made all the necessary substitutions, but can't work out the 5 word quotation to lead to the speaker. I have "Who res.n.ed ( resented?) and then gibberish. Could you give me a push please?

Just got it.

It might help to adjust the spacing. I don't want to show too much here but the first word in the quotation has eight letters, not three.
