Some here go along with this blasted shouting

It seems the answer is "blue" - but why?

Maybe "blue" sounds like "blew" = blasted?

Thanks elle. That would be laboured enough to be Scorpion. But what is the beginning of the clue about?

Having googled the puzzle number to check if something was missing from the clue I was directed to a part blog which said this was a thematic puzzle. There should be something in the preamble which helps explain if (and possibly how) some clues are affected.

Hi elle, I didn't go into the full blog so I don't know the specifics but it certainly would satisfy that part of the clue (a homophone that is not dialect dependent, how refreshing !).

I think you have it ginge! There are several solutions which could be preceded by "blue". It's a pity the preamble was omitted yesterday...
