It’s not unmodified, piffleworthy. The incorrect letter is the first one of the last word, creating a one-word, six-letter definition

Thank you keepatit. Obvious now, as such things so often are!

I thought this was pretty good, although I share some of the noted reservations about a few of the clues. 2 loose ends that I would appreciate someone tidying up for me.

Can’t make head nor tail of 29. Fortunately all the letters are checked and the last 2 letters were confirmed by the end game, but I can’t see the definition or the wordplay.

Also is 33 the last of the normal clues? My hidden message seems to make sense until it gets there then seems to end masse which I can’t fathom?

Thanks

Good luck to you and your Mum!

When sending off to Green Lane, should the original grid be filled in addition to the two amended squares, or are we to send just the two squares??

Hi smellyharry, en precedes masse which should make sense.
29. Sup tasty => septa sty

Ahh, I had a w instead of an n for my last letter of previous clue which confused me. Makes sense now.

I’ve just sent the two amended squares and the address grid Cass. All lovingly glued to some squared paper. A pointy prit stick would’ve been useful!

Hi Harry, the normal clues are 1,5,12,16,21,33,37,38A and 10,27,33D.
The last two words are 'en masse' as in 'in a body' which I think implies that the corners should be re-assembled into just one unit, in such a way that enables you to see the angry Athenian.

I now have everything except the ten letter word.
