Trying hard to do these cryptic crosswords but can figure things out even when I have the answers

(Z)en (eastern school) treat (present)

Lithe.
Happy could be "lit"
Could "he" be the person "chasing" in hide and seek for example?
Just a guess!

Take "S" away from "Eastern" and anagram gives "entreat".

Not a particularly good clue, with unclear or lacking indicators.

Ignore my last - missing a second "T"!
