13. Might the clue have Lord's rather than the plural which could give ordeal dEsAi in lord* ?

13 Could Ordeal be 'case'? It'd be 'e' and 'a' from 'desai' (ignoring the odd letters) + an anagram (amazing ) of Lord.

Ginge, we had the same thoughts around the same time. I feel 'ordeal = case' is slightly iffy!

Hi Malone, I totally agree though I can see both being synonyms of trial. Perhaps the OP will come me back and let us know of any crossers.

Thanks, Ginge - I feel a tough case or a hard case would be an ordeal, case on its own doesn't fit quite as well.

PS I assumed the Lords should have been Lord's.
