19d Polled returns some way off, but in sight.
The clue gives 2 different answers defn and wordplay. Both are 3 letters and have 2 letters in common , O in the middle being one of the common letters to both.

Just started this.
Still sorting out the two definitions.

* clues comprise a definition to one word/phrase plus wordplay to another differing from it by one or more letters.

10 *Old criminal under control hung out (6,5)

23 *Closing before burning gets hot (8,6)

Thanks.

I'm about 90% done Sunray but haven't solved either of those two!
The 8,6 in 23 means both answers have 8 letters but six of them are shared, so two differ.
