I don't know anything about the Biobank movement , Ros?
Perhaps you could explain what exactly it is?
Are they looking for volunteers or something?

www.ukbiobank.ac.uk I think

It started several years ago, no longer remember how I volunteered and they are not looking for more people. There are half a million of us (at the time I believe they recruited people between the ages of 49 and 69). There was a day or half a day of tests and since then food questionnaires and a form to fill in every so often. The aim is to see why we get the diseases we do and the impact of lifestyle on this.
I'm part of several studies- million women (breast cancer) and heart valves are two that come to mind.

Hello, Elle!
It was cold here. Had a police warning on Twitter for ice but it was only helluva cold rain that came.
Not seen any trees up around here yet...but there wiill be, I am sure!
I went visiting in the morning and that was that.
That's good about your Adblock!
At least, if it plays up again, you know how to fix it, now!
Chambers have been a disappointment regarding their Dictionary with missing content.
Won't have done their public image any good!

Hi, Rusty!
Now tell me.....have you ever heard of PINK Friday???
I had an email this morning from last minute.com telling me of their PINK Friday Sale! ( valid through till Monday, I think?)
This involves special offers on hotels, flights, holidays, city breaks, theatre tickets, restaurant special meals etc!
And apparently this is not the only company to offer Pink Friday deals!
Whatever next?????
And are we having Cyber Monday again?

Hi, Rusty!
Amazon has just emailed me to tell me that "Black Friday REFRESHED" is here!!
I am not going to open it in case I am tempted to buy yet more books!
It is absolutely freezing outside - I've just opened the back door for the dog to go out into the garden ...... brrrh!!...... I did a quick check that there were no foxes lurking about and left her to it...!
She must have thought it cold, too, as she was back unusually quickly!
Tomorrow is supposed to become milder...?????
I am now going to watch "Casualty" - I like that ...one of my favourite programmes!

Hello, Elle!
It is a bit nippy here, too.
Possibility of ice and snow tomorrow in my neck of the woods..
Not milder for here!
Do you fear foxes would bother your dog, Elle?
I have never watched Casualty!
Someone told me it is possible to "rewind" DAB radio programmes. Any idea?
I may have to go through the instruction manual to find out.

Good Morning, Rusty!
Dreich and very windy here this morning - not a very good start to the day!
We shall wait a while before going out with the dog and see if the wind drops a little........
Foxes? Our dog is very territorial and chases any fox out of the garden....there was a bad local incident last year when a German Shepherd chased a fox, the fox when cornered turned on the dog and ripped out its stomach...the dog died later at the vets.
So...........I am cautious.
However on the other hand, our previous dog (who was so laid back as to be almost horizontal) had a very good friendship with a neighbouring fox....the fox would sit waiting for us in the mornings, and walk with us halfway to the park - only turning back when we came to the main road, then he would head for home.
This went on for almost a year...... until the fox was killed by a car one night.
Yes, I think I have heard that you can pause, rewind and record live DAB radio?
But there again, I could be wrong?

Good morning, Elle!
You are right to be cautious regarding dog/fox encounters after the German Shepherd dog incident!
Poor dog! And very unsettling for the owner of the dog.
I have had a squiz through my radio user manual and there is nothing about rewinding, though it is a cheapish radio I bought.
It does "pruning" though!
I have occasionally rewound my television and simply wondered if the wireless was the same.
The BBC weather app forecasts snow for me today!
The gritters are out now.
Snow is a doggone pest!
Any forecast down your way?
