Good morning!
No snow here, but black ice around.
Us old folk will have to be watchful!

Good Morning, Rusty!
Well, we have had a snow "flurry" early this morning! It didn't last long and the snow didn't lie!
But it is now fell dreich indeed! and bitterly cold!
I hope that you are faring better in your neck of the woods? Did you have overnight snow?
I have just listened to Ina Williams - she has the most beautiful voice. I have found other songs too.
How come the title of the group? " And Did Those Feet " is the first line of "Jerusalem"?
Planning to stay in now till midday when we might venture out again if the weather improves.
Semi-finals of the ATP tennis this afternoon!
Any plans ?

Ros, I fall into that trap, too!
And I can remember thinking whenever my mother "embarrassed" me, that I would never say or do similar to my children, but of course I do!

My mother used a large number of clichés and sayings. I have tried extremely hard not to, especially the one I feared most- "May God forgive you, because I never can". What a shocking thing to say to a child. To be fair, her own childhood had much worse things in it.

Hello, Elle,
Lucky you with the snow!
Very cold here. Red noses abound!
I had a CD of And Did Those Feet a few years ago. Kept it in my car.
My car got stolen and I never saw the CD again!
There was a nice song on it by children, too.
I first came across the band on Classic FM TV, I think it was called.
Unfortunately the station is no longer on TV.
Yes, Ina has a beautiful voice. Welsh, I think?
I have no idea why they chose that name.
I am being collected soon, by the young ones, no idea where we are going!
I am interested in a horse at Ascot today. No bet, I just want to see if he is as good as folk think!

Hi, Rusty!
Sorry, I've just realised that I didn't answer your question.......
As far as I can remember without resorting to looking it up...Camelot is a castle and the court of king Arthur. I think Camelot is considered to be the capital of Arthur's realm ( fictitiously believed to be somewhere in Great Britain?)
Avalon is a legendary island where Arthur's sword, Excalibur , was forged.
I think Excalibur was thrown back into the lake there, when Arthur was dying (not sure about its being the same lake?)
I know an arm reached out of the water to receive the sword.
Goodness, it is many , many years since I read the tales of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table!
I cannot vouch for any accuracy in my remembrance!
Have a good time out with the grandkids - watch where you put your feet if there is black ice about!!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, but surely the story of Arthur and Avalon is made up?
Or, could Avalon be in Wales? Ina was singing about Avalon in Welsh in one verse? And why "Avalon yet"? Why "yet"? Does she mean Avalon is still there?
The stone at Meigle has Pictish symbols on it, so precedes the Scots.
So if Guinevere was in Meigle it was a long, long, time ago?
Anyway, I have good news.
We went to Pine Cone, and they have covered the verandah and heated it, and there is a lot more room now.
It is still cold!

Hi, Rusty!
We had a most enjoyable walk this afternoon! The rain had stopped , the sun was shining, the sky was blue....... yes, it was BITTERLY cold, but we were well wrapped up against the elements - and the sunshine had a good psychological effect!
We felt cheerful!
That IS good news about the Pine Cone's veranda being covered and heated - you were worried that you might have to stop going there if it continued to be crowded with nowhere warm to sit.
How many of you went?
I think that King Arthur et al ARE fictional, Rusty..... leastways there has been no proof of existence as far as I know? Likewise Avalon and Camelot.......
I cannot explain Guinevere and Meigle.......?
Must look in on the tennis........ I think that Djokovic is playing Nadal; and Roger Federer is playing Wawrinka (two fellow countrymen )
No prizes for guessing whom I want to win!

There was a theory that Arthur was a real clan chieftain - a Romano-Briton resisting invasion from barbarians in the immediate post-Roman period. However I think that there is now even more doubt about this.

Yes, I read that, Chris, but there don't seem to be ay historical facts to back up that possibility?
