Hi, Rusty!
You and your teaspoons!
I suspect you probably accidentally throw them away with your empty yoghurt pots?
Yes, you will indeed miss Greggs.
We have one on our village High Street.
A very nice shop...full of goodies!
I had a very peculiar phone call this morning , purporting to come from British Gas and wanting to 'drop in' on me this morning to do my Annual Boiler Service.....
Well, I had already arranged a date, and time slot, for that , so I was immediately suspicious.
In the end, I just said that I would stick to my pre-booked appointment, thank you - and then reported the call.
I wonder what would have happened had I said the guy could come round....?
Scary ...that predators can try to inveigle themselves into one's property on such false pretences.....
Both chicks and Lassie are in the nest at the moment!

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Very humid and hot here today - not a pleasant heat!
What about you?

The route for Le Tour today seems particularly tough! don't you
think Rusty? From what I have just read, it is the first time that
they put all these successive high cols on the route?

Elle, it should make for beautiful scenery, so if you fancy watching, both today and tomorrow at least, you might enjoy the view if
nothing else.
But they will be hot! even if they are used to it, hard climbs and
heat = difficult stage.

Hello, Elle!
I think Greggs is great!
Your phone call would ring alarm bells!
You were correct in reporting it.
I am watching le Tour.
Sagan has just won the intermediate sprint.
The first climb has just started so he will be going backwards soon!

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, four high cols today!
Going to be tough!
The scenery is superb, Pigale.
So, I wonder, who is going to attack today!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, British Gas thanked me very nicely for apprising them of the fact the someone was impersonating a BG engineer.
They confirmed that the telephone number was not one of theirs... and said that there is no way that any BG employee would ring up out of the blue like that .... and suggest "dropping in" on a customer !
It is a worrying prospect though, that someone elderly and vulnerable might indeed let such a person into his/ her house!
I am glad that you are enjoying Le Tour...
You will have quite a number of "favourite" racers on whom to keep an eye.....
I am about to take out the dog for her second walk.....
I might as well take advantage of the (slightly) cooler temperature today to get some (much needed ) exercise!
Especially, as I think our long -term local forecast is for yet more hot weather!

Hello, Pigale!
Today is somewhat pleasanter than of late, in that it is a tad cooler and fresher.
It is just a flash in the pan, I think, as the forecast is saying high temps and humidity again, from tomorrow onwards.
I am taking advantage , though, and am about to go out for a walk.

Hello, Elle!
Hopefully British Gas can get the police on to the scoundrel who phoned you.
The Tour is great!
Just saw another high wire walker. Impressive!
Greg van Avermaet is losing the yellow jersey.
He is way behind today.
Possible yellow jersey for Geraint Thomas?
I like him. Quite a way to go yet.
Scenery is just amazing.
Best day of the Tour, for me, so far.
Saw a lot of Le Mont Blanc, and snow!

How on earth did the person who phoned you know that you had a boiler service due ?

A friend of my family is a British Gas Engineer and I know that engineers are allowed to call you if they are in the area and you already have a service booked for a future date, in which case it is not a scam. If a similar call should be received, always ask the "engineer" to quote the password which you should have already registered with BG . I have passwords for BG and EDF and other companies. You were right to be cautious ,however, as you should be with anyone who tries to enter your property and always ask for an ID which they wear .

There are scams with emails and texts purporting to be BG and I just delete and block those.

Update, Elle!
Did you watch Le Tour?
A great stage today.
Marvellous scenery, a polka dot church, a high wire walker, and top class racing!
Stage win and yellow jersey for Geraint Thomas, known as "G".
I don't like Team Sky but I have always liked Geraint.
Now for my tea!

Hello Rusty,

A good win by Geraint Thomas! you must be pleased - I know you
like him.
From what they said (French commentators), there seem to be some
rivalry between G Thomas and C Froome - Geraint Thomas apparently
wants to be leader of the group? Have you heard anything about this?

I agree about the scenery - just breathtaking!

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, I am pleased for Geraint.
I have not heard that there is a conflict in Team Sky.
I take anything that comes out of Sky with a pinch of salt.
But...I was surprised that Froome left the group he was with, to follow Geraint up the road.
That is simply not done.
You do not do that in case you take a rival up to your team mate.
Froome should have stayed in the group and responded to any moves by rival teams.
I loved the scenery, Pigale!
Especially the polka dotted church!
Another big day in the mountains tomorrow!
