Hi Ros

Here goes....
Thanks in anticipation.
It was taken yesterday in her back garden and I think the shrub behind is a Honeysuckle, but I can ask her.
It darted on and off the pole for about 2 hours in total . We are both mad about butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, bees and even bats !

Yes, definitely Libellula depressa (Broad-bodied chaser), female. That's a fabulous photo, JG. Is it near water, and did you see any of the males?
She's absolutely perfect, even to this description of her legs , "dark brown with tawny bases" and the distinctive wing patches, a streak of tawny brown and golden veins in each patch.
I hope no-one regard this as rude, but the anal appendages are female, so it is definitely not an immature male.
Fabulous and lucky you. The first dragonflies I ever remember seeing were L. quadrimaculata, in Scotland.

Thanks Ros
You are a star!
There was no sign of any males.... I wonder where they were .
Yes, my friend's house is near a lot of water
(a stone's throw from Longham Lakes.)
I spotted a few male Blue- banded Demoiselles in the Box hedge yesterday , but no camera handy. :(

Hello, Jazzgirl and Rosalind.
Hope you do not mind me intruding, but that is an absolutely beautiful creature!
Well done with the picture taking!

Good evening, Rusty!
It is a beautiful evening!
But the temperature regretfully feels just as hot outside.......
But we have put up one of the pedestal fans in the lounge, so it lovely and cool in here now......
A wonderful invention if one cannot afford air- conditioning!
Ah yes, I see how you were mistaken about Ayrshire!
I have been studying the AA Road Atlas...so am a tad more informed as to the relativity of various places!
I hadn't realised that Nairn is so far north.
Andy Murray has beaten Stan Wawrinka at Eastbourne.
But sadly Heather Watson has gone out.
I only watched the one match though ..and that was to see Karolina Plishkova go through to the next round.
She was last year's winner.
I think we are in for a hot and sticky night!

Good evening, Elle!
Yes, great weather here, too!
Many years since I was at Nairn, but it is in a lovely place.
Charlie Chaplin used to have his holidays there.
I read that Andy had won, looks like he is on the road back from injury.
I read that BBC are only showing the women's matches.
The men's matches have been snapped up by Amazon Prime.
I am not sure how that works?
Eilidh Doyle is injured and misses the Championships at the weekend.
A pity, I like Eilidh!

Hi, Rusty!
I did not realise that only the Women's tennis was being shown on the BBC?
How very disappointing!
I think Amazon Prime is a service for which one pays?
So presumably Amazon Prime Video - on which the Men's Eastbourne tennis is showing - must be paid for, too?
I think that is disgraceful!
(Shades of Eurosport Player?)
It is only a few years ago since the men got to play at Eastbourne - it used to be an All Women's tournament.
I didn't know that there is an Athletics event at the weekend?
What Championship is this?
(Sorry to hear Eildh is injured)

Hello, Pigale!
I have just looked in on Lassie and co .....and have read the latest blog.
Apparently, last night loud music was played on a nearby site, and ( I quote from the Ranger) was "transmitted across the world through the Osprey Webcam audio feed"
Fortunately, the ospreys do not seem to have been too disturbed..
How inconsiderate, though, of some one to do that so near to a Wild life Reserve.
It is unpleasantly hot here.....
How is it with you?

Hello, Elle!
I read about BBC/Women's tennis earlier.
I do not have an Amazon Prime channel to watch it on my TV, or is it to watch online, I wonder?
Athletics.
Diamond League from Paris this weekend.
And the British National Championships from Birmingham (I think) this weekend.
So with that and the tennis, it will keep you out of mischief!
