But I do not know the film or book.
I rarely look at a film now.
But when I was younger I did.
There are lots of Quiet Man dvds on Amazon from 50p.
I still do not understand what "&lit" means, Elle, nor do I care.
You are doing away fine solving your clues without getting into that.

I just do not like to be beaten....I see this reference sometimes saying that it is an " & lit" clue - I think it means "literally so" - but I do not understand it?
I see what you are saying - that it doesn't really matter, and yes, you are right , but yet......I want to solve it.
I wish I could see what it means?
Ah well, maybe the penny will drop one of these days...!
I have never bought a "used" DVD , Rusty - would it be okay?
It wouldn't/ couldn't damage my DVD player ?
I don't have many DVDs actually, but those I do have were bought new.
But certainly the prices of the "used "ones are attractive!

Well I can not help you with an explanation because I have no idea.
I am not sure about buying DVDs.
I have not a DVD player, you see.
Pigale buys them....she shall know.
There are Blueray ones now, too.
And, no, I have no idea about them either!

The terminology is unimportant.
You can solve the clue, that is what matters.
Blue Ray is some kind of DVD, as far as I know.
Or, the player itself.
Another of life's mysteries!

We have decided to take the dog out later on, when the fog hopefully has lifted.

Still very foggy here!
Were it a weekday, and I had lots to do during the day, I would have ventured forth early with the dog regardless.......but today we have nothing specific planned and it seems unhealthy to go out in this thick fog if we don't need to do so!
I am on a roll this morning!
I have done the Jumbo GK.
Very straightforward. Just a case of bunging in the answers.
I have dealt with two loads of washing and have I hoovered all the carpets!
I shall now face the challenge of the 15 x15......
This is where I shall come unstuck....!
That will be nice if more of your grandkids come along as well as Miss L-B!

Not too bad, though 6a was a head scratcher!
We are lucky with the weather here.

Not heard from any of the young ones so far.

I've only got as far as doing seven clues...I am working down systematically as usual!
Obviously I am very much slower than you!
I didn't have any problem with 6a though!
I guess that comes with my being "in the trade"!
( I never expected to find my being a haematologist helped with solving crosswords!)
