clue to 54ac is "Can everything be ready to put away?" (7)
I have I?O?A?E
The answer appears to be ISOLATE, which can mean to put aside or away. But how do you justify the cryptic pointers?

IS O LATE = "Is nothing late" which is another way of saying "Can everything be ready"

Well, thanks for the insight - I must say though that the setter's reasoning seems a bit feeble. There were far better clues/answers this week than that one.
Still, I've finished it so again, many tks.
