hi Bees
14d blubber (cry) inside which is a synonym for "seemed" (the first letter of which is moved to the back of the word) The whole word means "at an angle" or "skewyiff".

thanks for the help, I was on the wrong track completely with 6d, convinced that it was "storm" for the invade connection but of course that had nothing to do with an island. All makes sense after your hints and 19d obvious too. Enjoyed this week. Take care everyone. GG

It must be me that is thick today, but I just cannot see how to solve 2d - everyone else seems to be OK with it. Suggestions welcome.

hi radarman
The answer is "female who lives in a Capital City"
"Nine is" + 4-letter word for "cut" (anagrammed)
Hope this helps. Not sure which letters you already have.

Didn't get the RT till yesterday and again found it a bit difficult until I got into it. Also stuck on 2 down but I had 7a wrong - did anyone else see 'Erica' in the clue as a woman's name! Anyway all done now thanks to Jazzgirl again. Lovely weather down here - loads of washing done. Just waiting for my daughter & SIL to arrive from London. Haven't seen them for ages, so really looking forward to having them here for a few days. Both work in the theatre so work calls on Wednesday unfortunately.

hi butterfly
Weather gorgeous here in the South east.
No washing to do, but plenty of lawn-mowing and weeding. Just popped in while having lunch. Have a good weekend all.

I know I said I'd try this crossword, but have hardly had time to nip to the bathroom, fr less walk to the shop.A large and detailed Jubilee cake is slowly taking shape. My 2 year old grandson is visiting soon....
Anyway, thought I'd say that I decided six months ago (when I broke several facial bones) that I'd try to stop moaning about anything, if possible. It's life-enhancing, believe me!
Back to the cake stand
