But some of these letters may be wrong: I have Ousel for 8d, Bit Part for 9ac, and Arena for 11d, without fully understanding why ! Really struggled this week!

Thanks jazzgirl and ChuckB. I should have got Tromso, but I doubt if I'd have got 15ac -- I was nowhere near!
And thanks, believer, for the explanations of 8d and 11d-- clever ! Must try to remember those two techniques !

I got Ousel a little differently.

A parasite feeds from a host giving nothing in return, so is of 'No Use' - O + use/ then L for large.

Forgot to mention that person deemed as a parasite is usually of no use

Clever, Les40, but I prefer believer's explanation, because it gets the L "diving" from the top of Louse; can't see how yours does-- an ousel is of course closely related to the blackbird, and diving's not it's thing !
