Stuck on 2 today - can think of answers but not why they would be right.

First: 17A Nice support for a woman reversing charabanc S?B?L? (SUBTLE? but why?)

Second: 8D One with an image of Darwin's sound character ?E?N?R

Thanks

Hi marydom
sudukolover had the right idea - that the support for a lady was a "bustle" so, you just reverse the "bus" bit.

Must admit I thought a bustle was a lumpy thing ladies put on their derrieres rather than a support but I googled and found out that it does qualify as a support for ladies clothing.

Wasted quite some time early on reversing BRA !!

I think the "elt" bit could be a synonym for girl or young sow
