Please would someone help me to understand the probable answer "ass" to the clue:

"Fifty per cent of pitch in sap"
(I have A?S).

I cannot think of a word for "pitch", half of which contains the letters "ass".

Admass is high pressure marketing (pitch) remove the adm and you have ass

OK - it's half of "pitch in" - ASSIST

"Pitch in" didnt register with me - I was thinking of Pitch, so assist makes sense rather than my answer
