5 is another word for news (but note the question mark). 6 is an anagram of certain words in the clue.

60 - the first part of the clue gives you the second word. "Posthaste" is very significant (post as in mail).

Not oven cleaning - what did Capt. Cook do in New Zealand, I think it was? That should lead in the right direction and AIRmail is significant.
