Jimbo, 79 answer is a person, an appropriate anagram of two words in the clue. Can't help with the others as I'm still looking for those.

Jimbo 96 is also anagram. Had trouble with no 1 until a penny dropped, couldn't have anything to do with Adams and a tower could it? Despite clues still struggling with 99 but have a cartoon chicken for 36, siren is OK and noel as part anagram but no idea where rest comes from or how straw hat fits. Pointers on 13 & 44 would help.

1) is a 4 letter word for fish with an o at the end
44) If it's not earthed can give you an electric shock
13) I'm not sure that I've got this one right but think it might be another word for an electrician

Lisalippy and others.....Me too, after all thse years of having one, never knew that was the abbreviation....knew very well it could only be M...D... but ile you just couldn't see why. Got 2 left to solve now, after the good clues I think I have 59, just 39 am not sure of. Well done Felicity, enjoy the rest from it and let's see what they have for us in November.

Jimbo, there's an excellent anagram site at anagram-solver.net Some might consider it to be a bit of a cheat, but I do have a look there if I really can't work them out....

Calliewag I use it too...don't think it's cheating either, we research it just like anything else. Have you got 59? I sort of think it's what's written across the top of the main new story with an R on the end but not convinced. Dense..had so many clues for it. Also 39, is it the feline thing or the old word for radio, (what we need to use our laptops) They're my last 2.

I've got the feline thing: whole answer = 'the very thing'. 59 my answer ends in l.
