Certainly not the most taxing of puzzles, but an amusing nostalgia trip. The two first letters in 9a were enough to give me the entire theme, or at least offer a possible one.

Well, despite it being on the easy side, thanks Doc for the nostalgia.
Today I found that a Dorset Vintage Auction house has a 1932 up for auction in June and I would love to be there and bid for it...... dreaming of the times that a dad had one ...

The Preamble reads as though the yellow cells define the unclued acrosses, and the red the downs. But two of the acrosses are red. Is this an Homeric nodding, or an insufficiently carefully written Preamble? Or just me being picky?
