Finished but dont understand "Homer expert" Anything to do with the Simpsons?

Agree about old VIP, but isnt "old" part of the def not wordplay?

Grunger, nothing to do with the Simpsons. A homer is an antique dry measure. The first syllable of the answer is a synonym for that measure.
