Can't parse these two solutions fully:-
29 Down - "Selectively arranges some of the cloth? Doesn't
sound like it. I have CURATES as the answer..
18 Across - "Fit singular form of Buddhist mystical text, you
might think. I imagine this is TANTRUM.

29. I think the pronunciation of Curates varies- one way when it means selectively arranges, and the other when it's a noun, church officers. I think that's why we have 'Doesn't sound like it '.

18 Tantra are Buddhist texts

18a is playfully based on Latin singular neuter words ending in -um that become -a in the plural, e.g forum, medium, data etc. Hence 'you might think'

29d I'm unsure but think it's based upon how the word is stressed differently depending on the meaning so your answer 'doesn't sound like' the 'some of the cloth'definition

I have THEOCRAT, which fits the definition 'minister'...
... and the OC in the middle is the old Conservative...
...but I don't follow the rest.

Any suggestions?

Which is that, so in which implies THAT contains ER (our old monarch), who further contains OC, as you said.
